With funding from the Grant and Per Diem (GPD) Program of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs starting October 1, 2009 and continuing through September 30, 2011, the Governor’s Institute is pleased to offer a program to assist communities to meet the unmet needs of veterans of our armed services known as the Homeless Veteran Provider Technical Assistance Center (VET TAC). This center, the VET TAC, helps non-profit organizations and faith-based agencies create programs through funding from the Veterans Affairs, in order to assist homeless veterans in the transition from homelessness to independent living and receive the support services needed to do this. The VET TAC staff will provide free training and consultation in writing successful grant applications to assist organizations in preparing VA Capital Grant and Per Diem applications. Homeless veteran providers from all states and territories are invited to participate. Free Grant Writing Services for VISNs 1-23 The free grant writing workshops provide participants with the skills needed to prepare a Capital Grant and Per Diem Only (PDO) Grant application. The workshops consist of didactic instruction, exercises, and the provision of handouts and other resources. The first day includes an
PLEASE NOTE: It is highly recommended that workshop participants review the Grant and Per Diem application materials prior to registering for a workshop. Participants will receive a copy of documents used during the training. All documents used in the workshop can be previewed here. Grant Writing Consultation The VET TAC has a website and a toll-free telephone number that agencies or individuals can call during any point during their application process. Email addresses of the staff are also available to the agencies and individuals. Staff assists with questions, and provides tips and suggestions, website information, and application guidelines. Grant Writing Application Review The VET TAC also provides critiques of your GPD grant application, free of charge. A consultant will make him/herself available to you for written feedback and email and phone consultation regarding your application. If you are interested in a review, with constructive commentary, please submit your application to us electronically via email to David Zell or Kristy Termina. We would appreciate it if you would make sure that the typos and grammatical errors are eliminated prior to submitting your application to us. We will provide comments and suggestions to assist you in developing a successful grant application. |
